Here you will find many of my guitar designs, as fully illustrated concept designs, playable prototypes and actual production instruments. Currently, there are five of my solid body electric guitar designs being manufactured under the 'J. Backlund Designs' brand by the Chattanooga, Tennessee based company of BML, Inc. Additional guitar designs are also being planned for production in the future.

I have worked with watercolors for many years, and have included a gallery consisting of a number of my fantasy paintings from years past. I will be adding new works in this genre as they are completed, and will be offering original paintings as well as limited edition giclee prints for sale.

The balance of the art and design work represented on this site is a mixed bag of very traditional ink, along with more contemporary digital cartoon art, pencil renderings, and concept design art that covers the spectrum of my fickle and ever-wandering interests. This includes furniture, guitar amplifiers, motorcycle related subjects, musical items, found object constructions, and anything else that strikes my fancy at any given time.

So feel free to meander about the site, check out its nooks and crannies and see where I've been artistically, and where I'm going, even though I'm not certain where that is.
